Norris stated the trade of gunfire ended with the suspect’s loss of life.
It is unclear whether or not the gunman, whose identify was not launched, took his personal life or was killed by police bullets. Norris stated police consider the person was the one shooter, describing him as a sniper.
Earlier within the day, the sniper allegedly lured the firefighters to Coeur d’Alene by beginning a brush hearth. Norris stated the suspect — whose motive is unknown — then fatally shot two firefighters and critically injured a 3rd.

Police launched 911 audio that captured the frantic moments simply after the capturing.
