Faculty GameDay veteran reporter bids farewell to ESPN after 27 years
Veteran sports activities reporter Gene Wojciechowski bids an official farewell ESPN and Faculty GameDay after greater than 27 years on the job.
Wojciechowski was let go by the community throughout its downsizing again in 2023, however the last day of Might 2025 was “my official final day on the ESPN books,” he stated.
“Great reporter,” Faculty GameDay host Rece Davis stated in tribute.
He added: “Good author and storyteller. Higher man. Unsurpassed as a loyal pal. Legend within the enterprise.”
Kirk Herbstreit reacted by saying: “Admire your dedication to the present and the respect you at all times confirmed to the individuals concerned within the present. As loyal and good of a teammate I’ve ever had!”
“Legendary run. Congrats Geno,” ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter stated.
NFL veteran reporter Ed Werder responded: “You’ve at all times achieved phenomenal work wherever you’ve been. Congrats, Geno.”
Wojciechowski joined ESPN again in 1998 after working for the Chicago Tribune, the Dallas Morning Information, and the Los Angeles Instances in a 44-year journalistic profession.
A graduate of Tennessee, he returned to his alma mater in 2023 to affix UT’s Faculty of Communication and Info school on the College of Journalism.
