New York Metropolis Comptroller Brad Lander detained by ICE, his mayoral marketing campaign stated

New York Metropolis Comptroller Brad Lander was detained after an incident inside an immigration court docket within the metropolis, a spokesperson for his mayoral marketing campaign instructed NBC Information Tuesday.

Kat Capossela, Lander’s press secretary, instructed NBC Information in an e mail that “Brad was taken by masked brokers and detained by ICE,” a reference to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement company after “escorting a defendant out of immigration court docket.”

It’s unclear in the meanwhile if Lander remains to be in custody, and a spokesperson with the Division of Homeland Safety, the company that oversees ICE, didn’t instantly return a request for remark.

Lander is working in subsequent week’s Democratic main for mayor.
