Silicon Valley tech execs are becoming a member of the US Military Reserve

Chief know-how officers (CTOs) from corporations, together with Palantir, Meta and OpenAI, are taking part-time roles within the U.S. Military Reserve.

In October, the U.S. Protection Division put out the decision to prime Silicon Valley expertise to take high-ranking positions within the U.S. Military Reserve so they may periodically be tapped for short-term tasks in areas like knowledge and cybersecurity, The Wall Avenue Journal reported on the time.

Now, eight months later, Silicon Valley is reporting for obligation.

The preliminary cohort of this program will embody the CTOs of Meta and Palantir, Andrew Bosworth and Shyam Sankar, respectively, as initially reported by The Wall Avenue Journal. It’ll additionally embody OpenAI executives Kevin Weil, chief product officer, and Bob McGrew, chief analysis officer.
